Cover Reveal!!! - THE PORTAL OF TEARS: BEYOND THE SHIMMERING by Deck Matthews

Out of this World SFF Reviews is super excited to be hosting the official Cover Reveal for THE PORTAL OF TEARS: BEYOND THE SHIMMERING by fantasy author Deck Matthews!  TPoT:BtS is the magical opening book in a new YA fantasy series, which was released on November 25th.  This is a slight departure for Deck, who is known for his acclaimed adult epic fantasy series, The Riven Realm, which is a personal favorite of mine and is comprised so far of the books The First of Shadows, Dust of the Darkness, and A Shattering of Glass (with more scheduled to come!)

Deck has expressed that THE PORTAL OF TEARS: BEYOND THE SHIMMERING is an idea that had been brewing in his head for some time and is a book that he was motivated to write for his children.  Well if the cover and description are any indication, there will be much to love in this new story.  If you are looking for a delightful YA fantasy read to gift someone this holiday season, this is a great choice!  Purchase links will be provided after the reveal.

But getting back to that description I just mentioned, here is the official book blurb for THE PORTAL OF TEARS: BEYOND THE SHIMMERING!

She'll fight for her family.

Thirteen-year-old Trisha Banymor has little reason to worry about the Fey.  It's been more than six centuries since their dreaded Queen swept across the land in her campaign to destroy humankind.  Now, the Fey are rarely seen.  Most live apart from the rest of the world, locked behind the magical barrier known as the Shimmering.

But after Trisha's mother, aunt, and younger cousin all fall ill with a sudden and inexplicable sickness, an unexpected messenger arrives to announce that Trisha is the only one who can save them.  To do so, she'll need to step through a magical portal and into the world beyond the Shimmering -- the lands of the Fey.

Faced with the truth of an unexpected heritage, Trisha must find the courage to face herself and fight for her family.  Accompanied by her best friend and her loyal protector, Trisha undertakes a dangerous quest filled with magical wonders, new allies, and a fearsome enemy bent on destroying everything she loves.
