About the Blog

I don't make a practice of criticizing how other bloggers, bookstagrammers, booktubers, and booktokers operate. The way I see it is you do you and more power to you. Spreading the love of all kinds of books should be what everyone in the community strives for and I fully support that. That being said, I personally choose not to review "the hits" on my blog. If that is what you are looking for you might want to try Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus, or some other book review site that only reviews hugely successful trad pub mega sellers. Think about it, do you really need me to be the 50,000th reviewer telling you how great The Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, Malazan, or Stormlight Archive is? I really don't see the point of operating a blog that only reviews books written by the firmly established big names in the genre, and frankly I can't think of anything more boring.

Out of This World SFF has always been and will always be a space where you can find my honest opinions about the latest science fiction and fantasy books that are hot off the presses. I prefer looking forward rather than back, so the overwhelming majority of the reviews here are of books that have either just been released or will be in the coming days/weeks/months. You will also see a lot of self-published and independent books reviewed here. That's something that is extremely important to me. I believe in shining a light on books that may not be getting the attention they deserve for whatever reason rather than on ones that have already been talked about and marketed ad nauseam. Because ultimately I want Out of This World SFF to be a website where readers can come to discover fresh, new, edgy, diverse, and exciting reads.

Aside from book reviews I also like to engage in many different types of content here. These include cover reveals (which are probably my favorite things to do), the occasional author interview, fun giveaways, and book tour stops.

I hope that gives you a better idea of what I envision this particular blog to be and the principles that guide me as a reader who loves to publicly shout about sff books. Hope you enjoy the blog and thank you so much for visiting and supporting my passionate little hobby. Happy Reading!

Nick (Out of This World SFF)
